Can I tell you how excited I am about this project? I literally haven't stopped beaming since I finished this stenciled tray! I have had this fun orange metal tray from Old Time Pottery for a while and when I bought it I thought "whoa, am I pushing myself out of my color box!" This tray was just an ordinary tray that is perfect for garden parties. I have used it mainly as a clutter magnet. Our mail goes in the tray. Loose keys go in the tray. Necklaces discarded after a long day's work go in the tray. It has been a great organizational tool for our home because even though the tray itself has clutter in it, the clutter is not on my countertop or my kitchen table. Once the tray is full, we sort through it!
Recently we started migrating our home office's color scheme to orange and teal against clean neutrals. I wanted to personalize this tray to be able to have the orange tray make more sense in this new color scheme. I needed to find a way to marry the orange and teal in the space. A stenciled tray was the perfect solution!
Here's how I did it (and you can too!):
I love how this little addition to my tray makes it fit in perfectly now in my new office. The tray cost me $8 and the paint was free with a coupon from my local hardware store! I'd say this is a great example of how you can do "more with less" with the help of home decor items from Old Time Pottery!
