Keeping the Faith in Kansas City

There is so much to be said about Kansas City, MO, but let's address the elephant in the room first: Why is there a place called "Kansas City" in the state of Missouri? It all started back in 1853, prior to Kansas becoming a state. Kansas City, MO was actually named after the Kansas River (a name derived from the Kanza Native American People). Later, in 1872, to make matters more confusing, Kansas City, KS was also established.

Naming shenanigans aside, "The City of Fountains" is Missouri's largest, most populous city. You know you are certainly not in Kansas anymore when you're strolling through this massive, historic metropolis. With tons to do in KCMO, whether you're a long-time resident or just visiting, you're in for a real treat. If art and culture are what you're after, then head on over to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, known for its intoxicating fusion of architecture and landscape. But don't rush! Be sure and take your time to soak in all the art surrounding you.

If you're a history buff, or just want to experience something unique, be sure and check out the Arabia Steamboat Museum, which offers visitors a chance to check out a historic side wheeler steamboat that sank in the Missouri River in 1856. This amazing time capsule transports you to frontier life. There's so much to see and do in this amazing attraction frozen in time.

Of course, we would be remiss if we didn't mention all of the amazing eats available in Kansas City, MO. Everything from fine Indian cuisine, to barbecue and steak is available to you. If you love German cuisine, Grunaeur is a delicious option. We strongly recommend the curry sausage! Or perhaps you're looking for some good ribs. In that case, Q39 - Midtown is the place to be. You won't get over how yummy the food is, and you can also find a variety of healthy options on the menu as well.
