Hostess Jo is back on the blog this week with her breakfast nook all dressed up for Christmas! Stay tuned to see how she created this beautiful look all with decor from Old Time Pottery.
One of my most favorite places to decorate is our breakfast nook! It's such a cozy spot to have a cup of coffee and look out the window. When Old Time Pottery wanted to help me decorate a Christmas table, I knew this one would be fun. They have so much cute Christmas tableware! As you’ve probably noticed, I’m loving plaid this holiday season. Old Time Pottery had these adorable plaid reindeer I had to have. They set the stage for the rest of the table. Plaid napkins, red chargers and these plaid deer wine glasses! This wine gift bag was so cute and went perfectly with the tablescape. I also added a couple of their Christmas pillows to mine and they really made the area festive. These Christmas appetizer plates bring the red chargers and my white dishes (also from Old Time Pottery) together. Another reason to love white dishes? You can use them year-round! Last but not least I needed a big piece of wall decor for the season. Trying to save money, I found this DIY buffalo check wall art on Pinterest. It looked simple to recreate. It is originally from Better Homes and Gardens. There is a how-to video in the link. First I purchased a $10 canvas from Walmart and black acrylic paint. The directions showed them using a wallpaper brush to drag across the canvas and make the plaid.
This was a little harder than I expected trying to keep the lines straight! Maybe a little more abstract than I had wanted but I still like it.
Handy hubby cut some scrap lumber to fit and we stained it with the leftover stain we had=zero $$. He nailed and I took pics- HA! I found this adorable boxwood wreath and ribbon at Old Time Pottery to hang from the artwork. I think it looks great in the space! I can also change out the wreath seasonally. All in all, I spent about $15 to make the canvas art. I hope you’ve enjoyed our cozy seasonal nook.
I saved stories on Instagram if you are interested in making a buffalo plaid canvas yourself. Maybe this post will inspire you to decorate your table for Christmas in a fun way!
Big thank you to Old Time Pottery for providing the adorable Christmas décor!
XOXO,
Jo
