Joanna is on the blog today with a fall DIY!
It's that time of year again! There's already a change in the air here in Alabama. Even though it is still hot outside the change gets you in the mood for FALL! I've added some simple seasonal touches around the house. I'm keeping my fall décor pretty neutral and minimal this year. I've been happiest with a more simplified look since we moved.
I was so excited to work with Old Time Pottery again and their fabulous fall floral department! I decided to create a different style of wreath to go with my current décor.
I found everything I needed for this wreath at Old Time Pottery, even the glue sticks!
They have a great variety of florals for any color scheme you could want. I loved these pretty neutral stems. I also purchased the burlap to cover the styrofoam wreath form there. They have tons of different ribbons.
I have never made this style of wreath. Usually I use the grapevine form and weave the florals into it.
For this one, I started by wrapping the form in burlap.
It gave it great texture.
I didn't glue any of the burlap. It was really easy to just wrap it and pin it.
I always trim the floral bunches into single stems. They are easier to work with and you have more room to place them anyway you want.
Then I began playing around with how I wanted the florals to look. I decided to go with an asymmetrical look.
My favorite are the feathery grass stems!
For this wreath, I hot glued all of the florals directly to the burlap. It was super easy. Once you decide how you want it to look, you just start layering.
Old Time Pottery has everything you need to get crafty. Different types of wreath forms, ribbon, glue guns, floral wire etc.
I really love how this one turned out!
When I went to hang it, the florals were heavier than I thought and that made it turn more but I really like it like this!
What do you think of this style? Will you be making any wreaths this season?
I love that this one goes with anything! I hope you're inspired to try making your own unique wreath!
