I’m (@savillamountain) teaming up with Old Time Pottery to continue the Spring refresh in our dining room. Today’s post is how to style your shelves for Spring + I’m sharing my best decorating tips!
I have been compensated by Old Time Pottery for this post, however all opinions are 100% my own.
Once our dining room Spring tablescape was finished, I knew I wanted to update our floating shelves. It was super easy, and below I’m sharing how you can style your shelves for Spring too!
HOW TO: STYLE YOUR SHELVES FOR SPRING
Head to Old Time Pottery: Old Time Pottery is one of my favorite places to shop for décor. They have a wide variety of items for any area of your home + excellent prices.
Choose some greenery + florals: I always like to pick out greenery + florals first. I’m a big fan of pops of color, so I wanted to bring some of the pink from our dining room table to the shelves. I found the most gorgeous pink flowers for the top shelf and then went with a green plant for the bottom shelf. Greenery and flowers are a great way to quickly fill shelves in any area of your home.
Add focal pieces: Don’t be afraid to repurpose items. I loved the round basket on the top shelf as soon as I saw it, but it was a basket. So, I decided to prop it up and make it a focal piece instead.
Choose candlesticks: Candlesticks are another great shelf filler. Our dining room shelves are pretty big, so I choose tall candlesticks. If you don’t have room for tall candlesticks, votives are another good option.
BEST DECORATING TIP
When you go into Old Time Pottery, pick up all the things you like and put them in your shopping cart. Once you’re gathered everything you think will go together, find a table in the store. Now, do a mock setup of how your shelves at home will look. I do this every time I’m shopping and it always helps me to better visualize how it will look in my home.
Before doing this, I can’t tell you how many times I would get home and something wouldn’t look how I had envisioned. I would end up making another trip back to the store, returning, and repurchasing. Since implementing this trick, I have been able to make perfect décor choices that suit our home perfectly.
I’ll be teaming up with Old Time Pottery again in March, and next month, we’re taking things outdoors. I can’t wait to bring you along!
