Lauren Cook is on the blog today to show us how she gets her patio ready for Spring without spending a bunch of money!
Spring is in the air at Old Time Pottery and I found exactly what I was looking for to give my apartment balcony a refresh! They have the largest selection at the most affordable prices. Spring, to me, is all about renewal and I knew I wanted some cheerful and vibrant decor to make my second floor patio stand out.
First, I started out with bright floral throw pillows, one for each patio chair. I pulled colors from the pillows to feature, especially the yellow. The wreath department did not disappoint and I found the most beautiful Gold Forsythia wreaths and purchased two, one for each patio door. Truly stunning! I love to bring live plants into any space so I found the perfect yellow planter for my new Elephant Ear plant and a woven tray to place it on. Lastly, I picked up a three foot white lantern with glass windows. Old Time Pottery has a variety of lanterns in all shapes and sizes but I needed a good size one so it wouldn’t get lost behind the patio chairs!
Now comes the most fun part...getting everything home and seeing your vision all come together! I’m styling a pretty small space, with my balcony coming in at a whopping sixty-six square feet! I started with a few items I already owned from years past...a sisal outdoor rug, accent rug, two patio chairs, pillow cushions and a small table. As I said before, the Forsythia wreaths went on each door and the color is so cheerful and eye catching! I keep the navy and white striped seat cushions because I feel like the color is so classic and works year round. The floral throw pillows go great with the cushions and also have the navy color in them. The yellow planter is a great accent and brings out the yellow in the pillows. The tall lantern is such a “staple” item to have because it can also be used year round, indoors as well!
Now to put the final touch on, I picked up some terracotta pots and some flowers to match the décor. Flowers and live plants bring a space to life!
